Hibbert Wants To Come To Utah?

Well, for those not in the know, I’m disappointed, because I mentioned it here (my last post… which was earlier today). Anyhow, Roy Hibbert, the 7′2 center from Georgetown, had a workout with the Jazz today. And based on what he said, he’d love to come to Utah and play for the Jazz. Isn’t it an awesome feeling to know that players want to come to Utah?

Hibbert said all the right things after the workout.

At Georgetown, Hibbert played in the Princeton offense, with its premium on passing and team play. He said he loved watching the Jazz and all the pick-and-rolls they run out of their halfcourt offense.

And more from Siler’s blog.

Hibbert said he would “love to come here” and “loves watching [the Jazz] play” and would “love to try to be like a little cog” in the Jazz system and would “love to come in and try to help” what’s a winning franchise already.

Hibbert said he told his agent to get him to Utah for a workout and even told the reporters who were at the practice facility Wednesday: “Hopefully, I’ll see you guys a lot more next year, if I have my way.”

If he winds up with the Jazz, Hibbert can learn from Carlos Boozer. Hibbert volunteered that he has a tape of Boozer’s post moves that he watches. “He can score the ball really well in the paint and he’s just an aggressive player,” Hibbert said.

Hopefully he has already dumped the playoff tapes. Because we don’t want him learning from that guy if he joins the team.

Hibbert is also visiting Sacramento & Seattle soon, with New Jersey & Toronto also destinations. It’d be great to add someone that wants to be here to the team… none of the mess that Milwaukee had to deal with last year. Plus, he’s 7′2… so he probably has some sort of presence defensively. More than the pathetic back-up the team has now. And Fesenko still isn’t ready, so it seems (just look at how many big guys the team is bringing in for visits).

Oh, and Kevin O’Connor actually has a sense of humor. Nice to see.

“I just thought we’d get the whole process over with,” O’Connor said. “All the mock drafts [have] us taking him. I thought we’d bring him in early and we’ll shut it down the rest of the time so we don’t have to worry about the draft any more.”

What he is talking about can be seen here.

Last quote from Hibbert…

“Obviously, they’re going to have other big guys coming in,” Hibbert said, “but I want them to remember me first, so hopefully I made an impression.”
